 GAZA CITY: At least 800 people have been killed in the Gaza Strip since Israel launched a massive military assault on the territory two weeks ago, the head of Gaza's emergency services said on Friday.
Dr. Muawiya Hassanein said at least 800 people have been killed since Israel began bombarding the impoverished Hamas-ruled coastal strip on December 27, and that another 3,330 people had been wounded in the fighting.
At least 10 Israeli soldiers and three civilians have been killed either in battle or by rockets and mortars fired from Gaza since the start of the offensive, which is aimed at halting rocket attacks on southern Israel. |  |
