Man City crush Blackburn 4-1 in English Premier League
Updated at: 1459 PST,  Tuesday, January 12, 2010
Man City crush Blackburn 4-1 in English Premier League LONDON: Manchester City crushed Blackburn Rovers 4-1 due to brilliant performance by Carlos Tevez in an important match of the English Premier League here at Eastlands on Monday.

Tevez scored a hat-trick to help his team to move up to fourth place in the English Premier League. Michah Richards scored the other goal as City leapfrogged Tottenham into a Champions League berth.

In what was only the third Premier League game to beat the icy weather in Britain over the weekend, City made it four wins out of four with a confident display.

Tevez put City ahead at Eastlands within seven minutes and Richards doubled the home side's lead six minutes before the break.

Tevez scored his second goal and City's third four minutes into the second half and missed a good chance to complete his hat-trick before Morten Gamst Pedersen pulled one back for the visitors.

But Tevez was not finished and did complete his hat-trick with his third of the night, curling the ball into the corner in injury time.

Chelsea lead the standings with 45 points from 20 matches, followed by Manchester United (44 from 21), Arsenal (42 from 20) and City (38 from 20), who moved above Tottenham Hotspur, now fifth with 37 points from their 20 games.
