LAHORE: The oath taking ceremony of Punjab governor Sardar Latif Khosa, scheduled to take place today (Wednesday), has been deferred following the tragic murder of the parents of Supreme Court (SC) justice Javaid Iqbal, Geo News reported.
According to details, after days of deep deliberations over the name of new governor Punjab after assassination of Salman Taseer, Sardar Latif Khosa had made it to top Punjab post, while he was due to take oath today (Wednesday).
However, after the tragic incident of the assassination of Justice Javaid Iqbal’s parents the event has been delayed for one day. Now, Khosa would take oath as new governor Punjab tomorrow (Thursday).
It may be mentioned here, that the parents of Justice Javed Iqbal of Supreme Court (SC) were murdered, after they seemingly resisted a robbery attempt at their residence in Lahore on Tuesday evening.
According to police sources, some gunmen tried a dacoity at the residence of Justice Javed Iqbal in Cavalry Ground here, which his parents resisted and were killed in the process. |
