Troops kill 48 more militants in Mohmand PESHAWAR: PAF jet fighters on Monday struck hard on the militant’s positions in restive Mohmand Agency to retaliate the Sunday incident wherein the miscreants ambushed security posts had left men in uniform dead and injured.

On the other hand as the gunship helicopters went for heavy shelling, the Pak Army troops took control of the sectarian violence hit Hangu District following failure of the jirga and peace talks between the rival groups as the death of the bloody sectarian uprisings rose to 40 on Monday.

Reports reaching here said the forces attacked militants in mountains near the Afghan border on Monday as fresh troops arrived after heavy fighting with Taliban insurgents, government officials said.

Security forces pushed back the militants, who had attacked from the direction of the Afghan border, killing 48 of them in hours of fighting, the paramilitary force said. There was no independent verification of the toll.

Forces fired artillery at militant hideouts in mountains above two villages on Monday, said a senior government official in Mohmand, Meraj Khan.

Heavy firing is going on in the mountains but we don’t have any details of casualties yet, he told newsmen.
