 Slain Geo News reporter laid to rest

Slain Geo News reporter laid to rest ZHOB: Wali Khan Babar, the reporter of Geo News who was shot dead by unknown armed men in Karachi late Thursday night has been laid to rest in a graveyard of his ancestral village Gardi Babar, about 25 kilometres from Zhob district, Geo News reported Friday.

The body of the slain reporter was transported from Karachi to his ancestral district Zhob via Quetta by road and then to his village Gardi Babar where he was laid to rest.

When the body arrived in Quetta, the journalists and representatives of civil society staged a protest demonstration and blocked Quetta-Chaman highway.

Fateha for the Eisal-e-Sawab of Wali Khan Babar was offered at a condolence reference held at Geo News bureau office in Quetta.

Protests were also held outside the offices of Jang and Geo Quetta. Journalists and workers of Jang and Geo participated in the demonstration and demanded immediate arrest of the cold-blooded murderers.

Meanwhile, office bearers of Quetta Press Club, Dera Bugti Press Club and Harani Press Club also demanded arrest of and exemplary punishment to the elements involved in the killing of Wali Khan Babar.

Chief Minister Balochistan Nawab Muhammad Aslam Raisani, Provincial Minister for Prisons and ANP leader Sultan Tarin besides other leaders of a faction Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, ANP, Pashtunkhwa Mili Awami Party strongly condemned the killing of Geo News reporter.
