KARACHI: The power load-shedding worsened on Friday, forcing people to take to the streets and protest against the present crisis.
Electricity is out from hospitals while industrial units are about to go silent. The saving policy of KESC has not only put domestic consumers through a lot of hardship but the industries are also suffering from the worst load-shedding.
The market and trade centers are also hit hard by the power crisis. The traders and businessmen say if the crisis persists, they will ultimately forced to shut down their business.
The industries are facing difficult situation as their production has witnessed a steep decline leading to the cancellation of export orders worth billions of rupees.
The power crisis has also put the fate of hundreds of thousands of industrial workers’ jobs in doubt.
Domestic consumers came out of their houses across the country and staged protest demonstration against the unscheduled and prolonged load-shedding and low gas pressure.
Lahore-based industrialists have threatened to shut their factories for not issuing loadshedding’s schedule.
The protestors burnt tyres, blocked roads and chanted slogans against power utilities. | |
