Updated at: 0156 PST,  Friday, January 23, 2009
LAHORE: WAPDA officials have decided to launch an extension project of the Sports Complex here after demolishing quarters of the lower grade employees.

Meanwhile, people to be affected have expressed their strong reaction on this decision by the WAPDA officials.

The WAPDA Sports Board sources told that the member Power and other officials visited the Chongi Amar Sidhu WAPDA Colony for the extension project of the WAPDA Sports Complex.

Giving the approval for demolishing the quarters, they directed the employees residing there to vacate the houses.

The affected employees protested on this decision and said that the quarters have earlier been demolished here and swimming pools were built at a cost of Rs 200 million and now further Rs300 million are being planned to be wasted.
