Power tariff to go up by 6 to 10 % over RPPs: Ashraf
Updated at: 2318 PST,  Monday, January 25, 2010
Power tariff to go up by 6 to 10 % over RPPs: Ashraf LAHORE: Water and Power Minister Raja Parvez Ashraf on Monday said that rental power projects would cause 6 to 10 percent hike in power tariff.

Addressing the 66th General Body meeting of Pakistan Wapda Hyder Electric Central Labour Union in Lahore, he said that construction work on the Bhasha dam would start this year.

He said that the government had received the Asian Development Bank’s report about RPPs. Implementation of the projects could ensure early provision of electricity but it would lead to 6 to 10 percent hike in power tariff.

The federal minister further said that government had been working on all power plants, including coal, hydel, thermal and rental projects for the end of loadshedding.
