Draft proposal for conversion of death sentence sent to President ISLAMABAD: Federal Interior Ministry has sent for approval the summary of proposals regarding conversion of capital punishment into life sentence to the President.

Sources told Geo News that six months ago the Federal Government had forwarded recommendations in this regard to the Law Ministry which after doing the needful sent the draft to the Interior Ministry.

The Interior Ministry had put the draft in final shape and sent it to the President through the Prime Minister.

Sources said the new law, if approved, will not be applicable on criminals awarded death sentence for involvement in a terrorist act or undermining the country’s stability.
