India set Sri Lanka 257 runs in 2nd ODI
Updated at: 1841 PST,  Saturday, January 31, 2009
COLOMBO: India set Sri Lanka a target of 257 runs for winning the second One-day International here at the R. Premadasa Stadium on Saturday.

Batting first after Mahindra Singh Dhoni won the toss, India made 256 for the loss of nine wickets in the allotted 50 overs.

Yuvraj Singh top-scored with 66 from 88 balls after opener Virender Sehwag, back from injury, smashed 42 off only 26 balls with seven boundaries.

No other batsman could make any significant contribution and star batsman Sachin Tendulkar failed again scoring 6 after making 5 in the first match at Dambulla.

For Sri Lanka, pacers Farveez Maharoof, Nuwan Kulasekara and spinner Ajantha Mendis got two wickets each while Tillekeratne Dilshan took one wicket.

Magician spinner Muttiah Muralitharan could not claim any wicket despite an accurate piece of bowling as he conceded only 32 runs in ten overs. He needs only two wickets to overtake Wasim Akram’s world record of 502 wickets.
