People celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr with religious zest in Peshawar PESHAWAR: Eid-ul-Fitr is being celebrated with traditional zest and fervour in Peshawar today (Wednesday).

Eid prayers’ congregations were held at various places in the city where faithful bowed their heads before Almighty Allah to show their allegiance to the creator. Special prayers were offered for progress and prosperity of country and for unity of Muslim Ummah.

The largest of congregations was held at Eidgah in Peshawar. Chief Khatib Qari Ruhallah led the Eid prayers attended by thousands of people. Senior Minister Bashir Bilor and other top officials were also present on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr.

NWFP Governor Owais Ahmed Ghani and Chief Minister Amir Haider Hoti offered Eid prayers at the Governor House. Similarly, Eid prayers’ congregations were also held in other parts of province and tribal region.

Talking to media persons after Eid prayers, Bashir Bilor appealed to people that they should play constructive role in maintaining peace in NWFP.

Meanwhile, strict security measures were put in place on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr in the city.
