 NEW DELHI: Azhar Hussain won the first gold medal for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games freestyle wrestling 55kg event on Sunday.
He defeated Ebikewenimo Welson of Nigeria in the final of in 55kg category.
Earlier, Azhar Hussain showed excellence when he routed India’s Anil Kumar 3-1 in 55-kg category of free-style wrestling.
Hussain later beat S Manel Kumar Yaparathna Mudeyanselage of Sri Lanka in just 28 seconds in the semi-final to earn a title clash with Ebikewenimo Welson of Nigeria, who defeated Scott Andrew Gregory of England in the other semifinal. |
