 ZURICH: Venus Williams and Flavia Pennetta reached the final of the Zurich Open Tennis Tournament here on Sunday.
In the first semi-final, Venus Williams of the United States defeated second seeded Serb Ana Ivanovic 4-6, 6-3, 6-4 to reach the final of the Zurich Open.
Venus Williams beat Ivanovic in a hard-fought contest as Ivanovic won the first set 6-4 but after that she came back and dominated the game. She won the next both sets 6-3 and 6-4 and qualified for the final.
The American will next face unseeded Italian Flavia Pennetta, who defeated Anabel Medina Garrigues of Spain 6-3, 7-6 (8/6) to reach her fourth final of the year. |  |
