Australia set India tough 293-run target in 1st ODI VADODARA: Australia have set a difficult winning target of 293 runs for India in the first of the seven-match series here on Sunday.

After Australian captain Ricky Ponting won the toss and elected to bat, his team made 292 runs for the loss of eight wickets in the allotted 50 overs against the hosts.

Four individual half-centuries were scored for Australia –Ricky Ponting (74), Michael Hussey (73), Cameron White (51) and Tim Paine (50).

For India, Ishant Shrma claimed three for 50, Ashish Nehra got two wickets while Harbhajan Singh and Ravindra Jadeja took one wicket each.

India's hard-hitting batsman Yuvraj Singh was ruled out of the match because of a finger injury.
