 Rajnikanth screens Robot for Bollywood

Updated at: 1550 PST,  Tuesday, October 05, 2010
Rajnikanth screens Robot for Bollywood MUMBAI: Riding high on the huge success of his latest film, Endhiran - the Robot, Rajnikant organized a private screening of the film which was attended by a number of high profile Bollywood superstars including Dev Anand.

One of the lesser known tidbit about Rajnikant is that the south superstar is a huge fan of the evergreen Dev Anand. Recently Rajnikant’s wife had organized an event in Chennai earlier this year with Dev Anand invited as a special guest. Both the stars spent some time in Rajnikant’s house, forming the basis of a friendship and following the thunderous response received by Endhiran at the box office across the globe, Ranji was keen to put up a private screening for his idol.

Some of the biggest names in the Indian film industry attended the screening at a multiplex in Juhu including the Bachchan family, Hema Malini, Yash Chopra, Karan Johan, Prem Chopra and Vinod Khanna while Rajnikant attended the screening along with his two daughters

Endhiran has garnered both critical and commercial acclaim across the globe with Rajni fans queuing up to buy the tickets. Made at a huge budget of Rs 162 crores, the film has already recovered more than half of its investment in the opening three days with the Indian box office accounting for nearly Rs 62 crores while the film is expected to break the overseas record for an Indian movie with tickets already sold out for the next few days.
