Eight injured in Islamabad suicide blast ISLAMABAD: At least eight people were injured when a suicide bomber hit his explosive-laden vehicle with building of anti-terrorist squad (ATS) near Police line in Islamabad on Thursday.

According to sources, a suicide bomber hit his explosive-laden white car with ATS barrack in which one part of the building was completely gutted, and about one and half dozen vehicles damaged.

The dark clouds of smoke were seen in the area after the blast. According to eyewitnesses, the blast was so loud that it smashed the glass windows of nearby buildings.

On the other hand, emergency was declared in all hospitals and injured were taken to the PIMS and Holy Family hospitals. According to officials, eight people sustained injuries in the blast.

Police cordoned off the area and initiated investigation. Meanwhile, a foreign news agency reported that eight people were killed in a car bombing at the main police complex in the capital.

It may be mentioned here that National Training Center and Police Academy are situated in the area.

President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani have strongly condemned the suicide attack.
