Khyber blast most devastating tragedy in Peshawar
Updated at: 1807 PST,  Friday, October 09, 2009
Khyber blast most devastating tragedy in Peshawar PESHAWAR: At least 11 horrible acts of terrorism have so far taken place in Peshawar in 2009, which claimed 121 people together and several others were injured but Khyber Bazaar suicide blast is the most devastating among all, which has killed 49 persons alone while over 100 were wounded, experts claimed.

Khyber blast has claimed the most lives among 10 other acts of terrorism in 2009 in Peshawar but experts said the explosives used in today’s explosion were not heavier than 50 kilograms but it went off amid one of the busiest markets functioning in provincial capital, causing the most damage.

At least 100 kilogram heavy explosive material was used in other suicide blast on Syed Fakhr-e-Alam Road on September 28, the less destructive one, which killed 18 people, experts said.

According to experts’ analysis, a bus full of passengers was passing; besides, many people were busy in shopping in bazaar when explosion took place, which caused the tragedy the most unparallel of its kind.
