Sindh sugar mills defy crushing orders KARACHI: The Government of Sindh’s order regarding sugarcane crushing could not be implemented from November 1st; it is only 10 out of 31 sugar mills of Sindh that started crushing.

According to sources, the Sindh government issued all the sugar mills owners directives to start crushing from November 1; however, these orders could not be implemented even after the lapse of 15 days.

It should be noted that sugar mills of some political personages in federal and provincial governments have not commenced the crushing as yet. These sugar mills which did not comply with the government orders include Mehran Sugar Mills, Al-Abbas Sugar Mills, Mirpur Khas Sugar Mills, Matiari Sugar Mills, Habib Sugar Mills, Kiran Sugar Mills, Faran Sugar Mills, Al-Asif Sugar Mills, Digri Sugar Mills and Tharparkar Sugar Mills.

The defiant Sugar Mills of the influential personalities include Ansari Sugar Mills, Nodero Sugar Mills and Mirza Sugar Mills.

Cane Commissioner has to say in this regard that 18 of 31 Sugar Mills of Sindh have started crushing and notices have been issued to those sugar mills which have not started sugar mills as yet.
