ISLAMABAD: The meeting of Friends of Democratic Pakistan is being held in Abu Dhabi today.
The meeting will be jointly chaired by the UAE and Pakistan, whereas representatives of the other member countries will also take part to formulate a strategy for working of the group.
Pakistan needs support so that it can successfully face economic challenges and achieve social development goals with a particular focus on education, health and human development.
It is equally important for Pakistan to gain access to markets of Friends of Pakistan and evolve mechanism through which private sector involvement in Pakistan's development can be encouraged.
The first meeting was jointly chaired by UK, USA, UAE and Pakistan was held in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly, whereas this meeting in Abu Dhabi is expected to develop a clear road map to extend help to Pakistan.
The Friends of Pakistan aims to muster international support for Pakistan to successfully meet all challenges like economic development, fight against terrorism.
The United States and United Kingdom are sending their representatives for the meeting, whereas Pakistan is being represented by additional Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry as well as Pakistan's Ambassador at Large, Javed Malik, who a Special Envoy assigned to the Friends of Pakistan Group. |  |
