PM says President to discard 58-2B
Updated at: 1938 PST,  Tuesday, November 17, 2009
PM says President to discard 58-2B DERA GHAZI KHAN: Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani Tuesday said President Asif Ali Zardari is willing to let go of the powers vested in him through 58-2B, adding the Wazirisatn Operation targets are being achieved and the militants are on the run leaving their weapons behind.

Addressing the media while visiting the relief camp set up for the people affected in SWA operation, he said the Operation will end before the appointed time and the foreign aid funneling into the country would be spent for the poverty alleviation in areas affected by the operation.

He urged the Mehsud tribes to trace their steps back into Waziristan and not allow the black sheep to approach them again.

The premier said strategy regarding operation in North Waziristan Agency (SWA) cannot be brought to the fore.

The efforts are afoot to make secure the border with Afghanistan so that weapons could not be smuggled, adding others countries are very well alive to the fact that stabilizing the law and order situation is inevitable for Afghanistan.
