| GEO Pakistan | | Zul-Hajj moon not sighted: unauthorized Hilal committee | Updated at: 2029 PST, Tuesday, November 17, 2009 PESHAWAR: The unofficial Ruet-e-Hilal Committee at Masjid Qasim Ali Khan Tuesday announced that Zul-Hajja moon was not sighted; accordingly, the first of Zul-Hajja will fall on Thursday (November 19) and Eidul Adha would be celebrated on November 28.
The unauthorized Ruet-e-Hilal Committee held its meeting at Peshawar’s historic mosque Qasim Ali Khan chaired by Professor Khairul Bashar.
The professor announced that no witness regarding sighting the Zul-Hajj moon was received; therefore, the Zul-Hajj (the month of Hajj 1430) will start on Thursday.
On the directive by the provincial government, the members of zonal Hilal Committee held meeting, which also passed consensus decision that moon was not sighted.
NWFP government Provincial Minister for Religious Minister Namrooz Khan had earlier said the NWFP Government desires ‘One Eid’ in the province.
According to sources in Masjid Qasim Ali Khan, Mufti Shahabud Din Popalzai is in Saudi Arab these days for hajj. |  |
