ISLAMABAD: The seventh ministerial conference of the World Traded Organization (WTO) would commence from November 30 to December 2 in Geneva Switzerland to discuss ways for trade liberalization.
Briefing the media about forthcoming WTO Ministerial Conference, Joint Secretary WTO wing of the Ministry of Commerce, Dr Tashfeen Khan said that moot would consist of two sessions, adding that in plenary session, e-commerce and intellectual property rights (TRIPS) would be discussed. Pakistan has firmed up its position on all important issues of the DDA negotiations and is well prepared to defend its interests and to take the lead on subject areas of particular concern to developing countries.
We are supporting the early conclusion of the Doha Round with the sequencing as agreed in the Hong Kong Ministerial Conference as agriculture and NAMA modalities to be finalized first.
In the working session, the meeting would review the activities of WTO including Doha Development Agenda (DDA) adding that contributions to recover growth and development of post-financial crisis would also be discussed.
