FAISALABAD: Labour Qaumi Movement (LQM) has announced a protest campaign from today (Monday) against closure of power looms in Faisalabad, Geo News reported.
Power looms owners have closed the factories over the shortage and skyrocketing prices of yarn as a result more than 50,000 daily wages workers have lost their jobs.
The decision to launch a protest campaign against the closure was made in a hurriedly called meeting of Labour Qaumi Movement here.
The LQM has decided to stage protest demonstrations and sit-in outside of all the factories if the power looms owners did not open the mills following deadline of 24 hours.
Meanwhile, Chairman Council of Looms Owners Association Waheed Khaliq Ramey has said that the owners are ready to open the mills but it is not possible for them to do so in present situation as there is shortage of yarn besides its high prices.
He demanded of the government to halt artificially created high prices and shortage of yarn. |
