 Several injured in Peshawar blast

Several injured in Peshawar blast PESHAWAR: Nine people are reported injured in an explosion that ripped through an Imam Bargah here in Takia Sanghan area of Hashtnagri on Monday.

Emergency activities have been kick started in the area where ambulances are ferrying the injured to a nearby Lady Reading Hospital where emergency has been declared. A woman is also reported to be among the injured.

According to IG Police NWFP, the blast which was not of high intensity was caused by explosives planted in the Imam Bargah’s bath room next to the Mutawali room.

Security was already alert in view of the information of three suicide bombers’ entry in Peshawar.

Hashtnagar is an old area located on G.T. Road and normally remains busy with a lot of human activity.

The explosion damaged the building of the Imam Bargah.

NWFP Chief Minister, Amir Haider Hoti condemning the fresh blast in Peshawar, has directed an inquiry into the incident.

President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Yousuf Raza Gilani and Interior Advisor Rehman Malik have denounced the incident in strongest terms. They prayed for quick recovery of the injured.
