RAWALPINDI: The newly elected president of Supreme Court Bar, Qazi Anwar Mehmood Tuesday vowed to hold corrupt rulers accountable besides protecting the law.
The judiciary will not tolerate incorporation of any ordinance in the law that protects corruption, Qazi anwar addressed a gathering held at High court Bar, Rawalpindi. The gathering was held to mark black day against the Emergency declared on 3rd November 2007 by Musharraf.
The newly elected Bar president notified that if NRO is legislated into law, then options are open, under which new strategy for the future would be formed accordingly.
He said that Chief Justice Iftikhar Chaudhry’s persona was scandalized on 31st October to divide the judiciary.
Hamid Khan, member Pakistan Bar Association said that the tragedy becomes the fate of a nation which forgets its days of tragedies.
A unanimous resolution was passed in the gathering which stated that any anti-judiciary conspiracy would be fought back in concert with the judges of the judiciary.
On this occasion, 3 judges from Lahore High Court also raised their hands in favor of the resolution.
A black flag on the High Court building was hoisted to mark the black day, and the lawyers wore black arm bands and withdrew from all judicial duties. |  |
