Pak openers steady despite mammoth deficit in 2nd innings NAPIER: Pakistan openers have shown a steady put up before tea break, taking score at 76 runs for 0 in 26 overs here on third day of Napier Test, Geo news reported.

Pakistan, after bowling Kiwis out for 471 runs in their first innings made a watchful start and by close for tea break, two left-handed batsmen, Imran Farhat and Salman Butt, had shared 71-run opening stand partnership.

Imran Farhat is playing on 32 from 75 balls while, Salman Butt is unbeaten on 37 runs off 83 deliveries, but still the deficit remains 170 runs.

Captain Vettori knocked 134 runs while Daryl Tuffey, grabbing maiden Test fifty, put up 87-run partnership with skipper and remained unbeaten on 80 runs.

Veteran Danesh Kaneria managed to bag 7 wickets in an innings, his fourteenth time 5 wicket haul.
