ISLAMABAD: The export of onion from Pakistan has touched all time new record as at least 75,000 metric tonnes onion has been exported to Singapore, Sri Lanka, several countries in UAE, Malaysia and Bangladesh, Geo news reported on Monday.
The president of Whole Sale Vegetable Welfare Association (WSVWA) Haji Shujahuddin told Geo news we expect export up to 2,50,000 tonnes as late as 31st December before the end of this year.
He said the export of onion produced from Sindh province started from October this year that is still underway, adding, the sudden increase in onion production was caused by the decline in onion export from India.
A huge amount of foreign exchange has been earned through onion export this year, he revealed. |  |
