Updated at: 1857 PST, Sunday, December 19, 2010 ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Rehman Malik Sunday lauded as ‘ideal’ the role of law enforcing agencies on the occasion of Chinese premier Wen Jiabo’s visit to Pakistan and disclosed that threats had been received during his tour, Geo News reported.
Talking to media the Interior Minister said he had announced to give Pride of Performce to Force Commanders and one month bonus salary to Rangers and Islamabad Police personnel deployed on Chinese dignitaries visit.
“Threats were received on Chinese PM’s visit and Moharram-ul-Haram but the same were thwarted by ideal security arrangements put in place by the security agencies,” he said.
Admiring the performance of Islamabad police, Rangers and Army Intelligence, Rehman Malik said all these law enforcers put in place exemplary arrangements.
He extended his gratitude to Ulema and Zakireens for cooperating with the federal government towards ensuring peace during Moharram-ul-Haram. He also thanked Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif. |
