Pak-India standoff: Saarc business leaders conference put off
Updated at: 1520 PST,  Tuesday, December 30, 2008
Pak-India standoff: Saarc business leaders conference put off ISLAMABAD: The two-day Saarc business leaders conference scheduled to begin here has been deferred in the raging Pak-India tension.

Saarc Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Executive Member, Zubair Ahmad Malik told Geo News here that the two-day Saarc business leaders conference slated February 21 here has been put off, as the Indian delegation’s visit to Pakistan didn’t seem possible due to the highly charged posture between the two countries.

Zubair Ahmad Malik said that the conference would not have been that attractive for other countries also without the participation of India, as presently, Pakistan and India were the two major players among Saarc countries. Over 200 businessmen and economists were to attend this conference, while the inauguration of this conference was to be done by Pakistan Prime Minister, Yusuf Raza Gilani.
