Iran keen boosting trade, investment ties with Pakistan ISLAMABAD: Iran has shown great interest in booting the trade and investment in different sectors of Pakistan.

Iranian Deputy Minister for energy, Abbas Ali Aabdi in a meeting with the Federal Minister for privatization, Waqar Ahmad Khan at the Privatization Board here told that Iran would provide 1000MW of electricity to Pakistan energy sector, for which, MoU has already been singed by the two countries.

Privatization Minister, Waqar Ahmad Khan told his Iranian counterpart that direct investment from Iran in the year 2006-07 amounted to $34 million, but it plummeted to mere $1 million in the next year. He told the Iranian minister that the investors from his country were welcomed to make investments in Pakistan’s oil and gas, fertilizer, cement and food processing sectors.
