NEW DELHI: The National Conference and the Congress on Tuesday confirmed that they would form the new coalition government in held Kashmir, with Omar Abdullah heading it.
The announcement was made after the National Conference chief, Omar Abdullah, met Congress president Sonia Gandhi in the national capital.
“We proposed a coalition government to Sonia ji, which was accepted by her. Their will be a coalition government of the Congress and the National Conference in the state.
Omar Abdullah will be the next chief minister of Jammu and Kashmir," senior Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan told reporters after the meeting.
Chavan, who is also the All India Congress Committee general secretary in charge of the state, reiterated: “The government would be headed by Omar Abdullah”.
