KABUL: Prime Minister Syed Yusuf Raza Gilani and Afghan President Hamid Karzai on Saturday renewed commitment to continue joint strategy against terrorism and take cooperation in economic sector to higher level, Geo News reported.
Addressing a joint press conference after holding bilateral talks here at the Arg Palace, the two leaders opined that there was an increasing realization that their dream of shared prosperity could only be achieved through sustained joint efforts.
Gilani said, “now there is an equal realization that both the countries are equally suffering because of terrorism and there should be no blame game.”
He said seeing the prevailing scenario in regard to global war being fought on terrorism, it is impossible for any country to nip this menace in the bud without support of Pakistan, a frontline ally of United States on the cause.
Gilani and Karzai first met separately, followed by delegation level talks and held in-depth discussions aimed at enhancing cooperation in war against terrorism and extremism and promoting collaboration on economy, trade and investment, building of energy corridors and improving road and rail links.
Minister for Commerce Makhdoom Amin Faheem, Minister for Railways Ghulam Ahmed Bilour and Minister for Interior Abdul Rehman Malik assisted the Prime Minister in the talks.
The two leaders exchanged views on bilateral, regional and international issues of mutual interest.
