Updated at: 0405 PST,  Sunday, February 01, 2009
KARACHI: In an annual audit report, it is said, there are many cases of corruption in the local bodies government here in Karachi.

District governments were established under the auspices of an unconstitutional government, report said and added, District Nazims committed corruption in the funds provided for development projects.

It is also highlighted in the report that there exists nil record of the funds utilized on districts’ development projects in the first tenure of district government while some incidents of confrontations were also unearthed over the issues of development projects funds between the provincial and local governments.

After the success of PML-N in Punjab in the February 18 vote, it was hinted that local government system would be dissolved and the District Nazims would be tried over corruption charges but no further move was made in this wake, it lastly underscored.
