Patron’s XI set SL 396-run target in warm-up match KARACHI: The PCB Patron’s XI have set a winning target of 396 runs to the touring Sri Lankan team on the first day of the two-day warm-up match here at the Defence Stadium on Tuesday.

Openers Azhar Ali and Ahmed Shahzad scored brilliant centuries in this 90-over-a-side match after their captain Shahid Afridi won the toss and elected to bat.

Patron’s XI made 395 runs for the loss of four wickets in the allotted 90 overs with the help of a superb opening partnership of 204 runs between Ahmed Shahzad and Azhar Ali which ended when Sahhzad was retired hurt.

He made 146 and Ali scored 100 while Bazid Khan could score only 11 runs.

However, captain Shahid Afridi smashed 49 from only 29 balls with eight fours and a six while Saeed Bin Nasir made 41.

Sri Lanka tried eight bowlers and Chamanda Vaas, Ajantha Mendis, Tillekeratne Dilshad and Farveez Maharoof got one wicket each.
