Man Utd beat AC Milan in Champions League LYON: Forward Wayne Rooney scored twice as the English champions rallied to beat host AC Milan 3-2 Tuesday night in the first leg of the European Champions League's second round.

Ronaldinho put AC Milan ahead when he volleyed Beckham's free kick past goalkeeper Edwin van der Sar in the third minute, but Paul Scholes tied the score in the 36th and Rooney gave Manchester United a 3-1 lead with headers that beat Dida in the 66th and 74th minutes.

Second-half sub Clarence Seedorf got Milan's second goal in the 85th.

Makoun picked up the ball inside the Madrid half, advanced to the edge of the penalty area and looped a shot over goalkeeper Iker Casillas.

Madrid defender Marcelo and midfielder Xabi Alonso are suspended for the second leg after getting yellow cards.
