Updated at: 1558 PST,  Monday, February 02, 2009
CHINIOT: Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif declared on Monday Chiniot as the district and announced Rs 5 billion-development package for it.

Talking to the media and addressing the people on arrival at Chiniot, he said his government is striving hard to serve the people. Shahbaz Sharif said his government is working on development and welfare projects to benefit the people.

He said it was PML (N) that met the old demand of granting status of district to Chiniot.

He said Pakistan People’s Party and Pakistan Muslim League (N) are working in collaboration but some elements were trying to end democratic government by seeding feud between the federal and provincial governments.
