TEXAS: Firefighters have been tackling a huge blaze at a chemical plant near Houston in Texas.
It follows a series of explosions that ripped through the plant in Mont Belvieu, which is located about 35 miles east of the city.
Mont Belvieu is a major natural gas liquid storage hub located north of the Houston Ship Channel and near a row of crude oil refineries.
The explosions took place at about 12:25 p.m. local time, KHOU said. No injury reports have been released. Chambers County officials haven't called for evacuations, though State Highway 146 near the plant was shut down, KHOU reported.
Houston-based Enterprise Products owns almost 50,000 miles of natural-gas pipelines and has 27 billion cubic feet of natural gas storage facilities. The company hasn't put out a statement about the accident. |
