KABUL: The U.S. military says three Afghan army commandos have been killed by a roadside bomb in eastern Afghanistan.
The U.S. statement says the soldiers' vehicle struck the bomb Saturday, while on patrol in Paktia province's Gardez district. Four other soldiers were wounded in the blast. No other casualties were reported.
The statement late Saturday said six people have been detained in connection with the attack. The incident occurred as Afghanistan praised a new U.S. strategy for dealing with growing violence in the country, which includes increasing Afghan forces.
