Traffic arrangements in Saddar area to be redesigned
Updated at: 2010 PST,  Sunday, March 29, 2009
Traffic arrangements in Saddar area to be redesigned KARACHI: A 3-member committee has been formed for traffic redesigning in all areas of Saddar including Empress Market prior to completion of Preedy Street.

The committee will complete the survey in a week time and submit report to Nazim Karachi Syed Mustafa Kamal and its implementation start after approval by him. The committee comprises EDOs Works and Services, Transport andrepresentative of consultant firm.

A decision in this respect was taken in a meeting held under the chairmanship of Nazim Mustafa Kamal and attended by DCO Javed Hanif, EDO Works Rasheed Mughal, EDO Transport Iftekhar Qaimkhani, EDO E&PI Dr Shahab Imam, Technical Advisor to Nazim Nisar Sariyo, ExecutiveDirector Parks Liaquat Ali and others.

On the occasion Nazim Karachi pointed out that after completion of Preedy Street, the transport from Saddar to Sharea Faisal and M.A. Jinnah Road will use Corridor-III and, therefore, there will be the need for redesigning of area around Saddar Dawakhan, Empress Market and entire Saddar area so that no problems are faced later.

He said this work be expeditiously completed so that this route is immediately opened after completion of Preedy Street.

Nazim directed that during survey care should be taken that after inauguration of parking plaza, the adjoining area will be "no parking" zone and, therefore, the survey must identify these areas.

He directed that advance arrangements be made for maintaining flow of traffic at Shahrah-e-Quaideen and Mazar Chowrangi.

The consultant was told to submit report in this regard after the survey as there is possibility of traffic jamming at this Chowrangi after it passes through Preedy Street and therefore, its solution should be found out right now.

On the occasion, the Nazim was presented a briefing on the ongoing development works of Corridor-III.
