VAT delay not to harm IMF agreement: FBR
Updated at: 1903 PST,  Tuesday, March 30, 2010
ISLAMABAD: A delay in imposition of valued added tax (VAT) will not affect the stand-by arrangement made with the International Monetary Fund (IMF), says a statement released by the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) on Tuesday.

The statement dispelled the impression that deferring the VAT would have any impact on the government’s understanding with the IMF.

It further said the VAT draft would be sent to national and provincial assemblies as per schedule. The Standing Committee are already reviewing the VAT in line with the law, says the statement.
