KARACHI: It will be difficult to sell flour at less than Rs30 per kilo, following the Sindh government’s enhancement of wheat support price.
Flourmills Association (Sindh Circle)’s president, Jauhar Ali Qandhari told this. He said that the government announcement of buying wheat from growers at enhanced support price augured well, but in case of wheat supplies to the flourmills at new price, it would be difficult to sell wheat at less than Rs30 per kilo and price control would be the responsibility of the government.
It may be recalled that the 10-kilo flour bag in retail market upped by Rs40 is being sold at Rs300, while 79- kilo flour bag price swelling up by Rs100 has reached to Rs2400.
Flour in the retail markets presently being sold at Rs32/35 per kilo. Market sources told that with the arrival of wheat at new price, unpacked flour price is also expected to go up.
