Updated at: 1549 PST,  Tuesday, March 31, 2009
Smith becomes fit to lead SA in ODI series against Australia JOHANNESBURG: Captain South Africa, who could not play Twenty20 matches against Australia, has now become fit before the One-day International series and thus the South Africa cricket team will take the field with its regular captain in ODIs.

The series of five one-dayers between South Africa and Australia will begin on Friday.

Graeme Smith was injured when a Mitchell Johnson ball hit him during the second Test against Australia due to which he could not take part in the third Test and the Twenty20 matches but he is now fit to lead his team in the One-day Internationals.

However, Jacques Kallis is facing fitness problem these days and he is likely to be replaced by Roelof van der Merwe, who has recently displayed brilliant performance in the Twenty20 match.
