Departure of 7 trains cancelled for today
Updated at: 1436 PST,  Thursday, March 04, 2010
NWABSHAH: The rail traffic is still closed on down track following a freight train accident near Nawabshah; while, the up track is open for passenger and freight trains, Geo News reported Thursday.

According to Railways inquiry, the departure of at least seven express trains has been cancelled for today. These trains include Millat, Bahaud Din Zakaria, Karachi, Sukkar, Pakistan, Awam Express and Khyber Mail.

Also, availability of only a single track is causing schedule of trains to be badly affected.

It should be mentioned that the down track was destroyed as a bogie tripped over there; and the repair work for the track is slowly in progress.

Rawalpindi-bound 7-up Tezgam arrived at Nawabshah delayed by 11 hours; Karakoram Express arrived here late by 14 hours, triggering the passengers to stage protest demo in front of Stationmaster office and raise slogans against the Railways officials.

According to the Railways sources, all trains plying between Karachi and Lahore are reaching at their destinations late by six to seven hours.
