MELBOURNE: Carsten Ball and Paul Hanley have beaten Taiwan's Yang Tsung-hua and Yi Chu-huan 7-6 (4), 7-6 (2), 6-2 to give Australia a 3-0 victory in their Davis Cup Asia/OceaniaGroup 1 tie.
Australia will go to the second round in May, when it will meet the winner of the Japan-Philippines tie, which Japan leads 2-0.
Ball and Hanley broke Taiwan's service game to open the third set and went onto victory at Melbourne Park, home of the Australian Open.
Australia took a 2-0 lead Friday after singles victories by17-year-old Bernard Tomic and Peter Luczak.
Reverse singles matches, reduced to best-of-three sets, a rescheduled for Sunday.
