Power production capacity falls, load shedding continues ISLAMABAD: Countrywide power production capacity falling down has further aggravated the situation, as the electricity load shedding continued for 3/ 4 hours unabated.

Pepco sources told Geo News that the two private power companies AES, Pak Gen, whose production capacity stood at 350 megawatts, have closed down due to boiler failure and the Uchh Power Company, which has the capacity of 250MW went idle due to technical hitch.

Sources said that the total power shortfall in the country went up to 1100 MW, as the two power companies stand idle. Presently, 2000 MW is produced through hydel source, while 11300 MW is being produced in the country as against the total demand of 12000 MW. Last year in the same period, the country had faced a shortfall of 2500 MW.
