WASHINGTON: US special envoy for Pakistan and Afghanistan Richard Holbrooke has termed the current situation in Pakistan very perilous, saying that the United States has expressed concerns over Swat truce deal.
In an interview with CNN today, he said: “US, Pakistan and India are facing a common threat for the first time after partition of Subcontinent.”
“The US government is focusing both Pakistan and Afghanistan,” he said.
Holbrooke said that President Asif Ali Zardari is worried about Pakistan, while Pakistan army is also serious in war against terrorism.
“The US is working with Pakistan army chief General Ashfaq Parvez Kayani.”
He said that it was essential to foil the militants’ propaganda besides focusing the Pakistan’s economic condition.”
The US envoy added that Swat truce deal could affect Islamabad too that is only 100 km away from the troubled valley. |  |
