Karachiites face 10-hour load-shedding in sweltering heat
Updated at: 2224 PST,  Monday, April 20, 2009
Karachiites face 10-hour load-shedding in sweltering heat KARACHI: Citizens of Karachi city are facing unannounced power outages of 8 to 10 hour duration everyday while KESC sources say that the duration of load-shedding may increase further with rise in temperature in the coming days.

In spite of receiving heavy amount against electricity bills from the Karachiites, KESC is undertaking power load-shedding of one to one and a half hour after every hour.

The total power shortfall in the country has increased to 450 MW and the KESC seems to have failed completely in overcoming the crisis.

KESC sources said that the utility is receiving its full quota of electricity from WAPDA but its KESC’s own power generation units are either closed or not working on their full capacity.
