Peshawar ‘Police Darbar’ to be held today PESHAWAR: A ‘Police Darbar’ (the annual police meeting) is going to be held today (Tuesday) in order to throw light on the vigilant performance of the soldiers hailing from police across NWFP here at police line.

The Chief Minister NWFP Ameer Haider Khan Hoti will be the chief guest on the occasion while he is expected to make many important announcements regarding the reshuffling and promotions of NWFP police personnel, sources said.

It is pertinent to mention that at least 300 policemen have laid down their lives in line of duty during suicide attacks and bomb blasts across province while around 70 other police personnel were martyred in last 12 months amid various other incidents of terrorism.

The NWFP has been the worst stricken province of terrorism while sources said, the increments in the salaries of provincial police officials will also be announced during Police Darbar.

Following the announcements, the recommendations from NWFP government will be forwarded to Federal government to seek endorsement.
