RAMALLAH: US Middle East envoy George Mitchell will meet Palestinian president Mahmud Abbas on Friday in the West Bank town of Ramallah, the chief Palestinian negotiator said.
Saeb Erakat said the two would meet as part of US efforts to relaunch peace talks with Israel.
Washington has for months been pressing both sides to revive negotiations last suspended in December 2008 but its efforts have hit a dead end over Israeli settlement construction in occupied and annexed east Jerusalem. |  |
