 Musharraf’s close aide leaves Pakistan
Updated at: 2235 PST,  Monday, April 26, 2010
Musharraf’s close aide leaves Pakistan ISLAMABAD: Tariq Aziz, the close aide of former president Pervez Musharraf has left Pakistan soon after the formation of committee by Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani to investigate Ms Bhutto’s murder.

It has been learnt that Tariq Aziz along with his family proceeded for UAE Sunday morning to avoid the investigation.

Tariq Aziz, his two daughters, son in law and wife took Emirates’ flight to UAE scheduled for 3:40 AM.

According to sources, Tariq Aziz decided to take the first available flight to UAE after getting the report of summoning of former MI chief Maj Gen Nadim Aijaz by the facts finding committee.

Tariq Aziz allegedly remained in constant touch with the former MI chief Nadim Aijaz on the day Benazir Bhutto was assassinated, sources added. Some see a mysterious role of Tariq Aziz along with Nasim Aijaz in hosing down of the murder site of Ms Bhutto to destroy evidence.

It may be remembered that Tariq Aziz and Interior Minister Rehman Malik have contacts that go a long way in the past. Both of them played a key role in establishing contact between Benazir Bhutto and Pervez Musharraf.
